Charges filed against Purdy man in connection with burglary of Rangeline business

(From the Joplin Police Department)

On July 27th, 2022 at 4:06 am the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of a business alarm at Wildcat Materials Inc. at 4901 S. Rangeline Road in Joplin.

Officers of the Joplin Police Department responded and located damage to a fence on the property. While clearing the business, a report of a vehicle theft in progress came out in the 3000 block of east Woodlawn Drive, just a short distance away from the business.

Officers immediately responded and found the suspect still inside a black Jeep Wrangler. He was immediately detained and identified as Kevin V. Granger, age 46 of Purdy, Missouri.

Granger was under the influence of an unknown substance and transported to the hospital for treatment.

While on scene, it was determined Granger had gained access to the victim's residence, removed several items from the home and had placed them into the Jeep and was believed to be trying to steal the Jeep to leave the scene.

Officers also located laser equipment in the Jeep that was confirmed to be stolen from Wildcat Materials.

During further investigation on scene there, officers located a stolen Ford F150 on the lot that was stolen out of Newton County, Missouri. Information was gained that Granger may have been involved in other criminal activities in Newton County as well.

Granger remained hospitalized and charges were forwarded to the Newton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for Burglary in the 1st Degree and Burglary in the 2nd Degree. The investigation is ongoing and further updates may be released as they become available.
