TRAFFIC ALERT: Route 171 CLOSED at Route 96 inJasper Co. West of Carthage Oct. 13-17

Where: Missouri Route 171 at Missouri Route 96 in Jasper County west of Carthage

When: 6 a.m., Monday, October 13 through 7 p.m., Friday, October 17

What: Contractor crews setting barrier walls, taking down edge forms from bridge deck/driving surface

Traffic Impacts:

All lanes of Route 171 CLOSED at Route 96 October 13-17

Traffic will be diverted up and over Route 171 on- and off-ramps in both directions

Drivers should expect slowed traffic and delays

Drivers urged to find alternate routes

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the closure

Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

This work is part of the project to replace the Route 96 bridge over Route 171 with a new bridge that is slightly higher and 12 feet longer than the current bridge. The $2.8 million project is scheduled to be completed by November 19, 2025.
