According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Honda Fit driven by a 79-year-old Galena woman struck the rear of a 2017 Ford F250 driven by a 56-year-old Joplin woman.
The Galena woman was pronounced dead at Freeman West Hospital at 7:25 a.m.
A passenger in her car, a 13-year-old Galena boy was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman.
The fatality was the 105th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
