Webb City man suffers serious injuries in Airport Drive collision

A Webb City man was injured in a two-vehicle collision 7:31 a.m. today in Airport Drive Village one mile north of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2022 Ram 1500 driven by Trey D. Covey, 18, Joplin, changed lanes into the center lane and made a turn in front of a 2010 Honda VT1300 driven by Jon A. Covert, 52, Webb City.

Covert was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

 

Joplin Police investigating deaths of man, woman at 2216 S. Annie Baxter Avenue

On October 31, 2022, at approximately 9:16 PM the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a call of two individuals who were unresponsive at 2216 S. Annie Baxter Ave. 

Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male and adult female deceased inside the residence.

Detectives with the Joplin Police Department are actively working the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.

MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: Missouri Route 37 Lane Closures at I-44 (mile marker 26) in Sarcoxie Tuesday-Friday, November 8-11

Where: Missouri Route 37 lane closures between Blackberry Road and the Center Creek Bridge over I-44 (mile marker 26) in Sarcoxie

When: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, November 8-11

What: Contractor crews to repair pavement on Route 37 as part of the Pavement Repair Project on Various Routes in Five (5) Southwest Counties that is to completed by December 1, 2022.

Traffic Impacts

Route 37 lane closures between Blackberry Road and the Center Creek Bridge over I-44 (mile marker 26) in Sarcoxie

I-44 and Route 37 are Open

Drivers may encounter flaggers directing traffic through the work zone where crews are working

Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas

Four Thomas Jefferson students record perfect scores on ACT

Congratulation to the four Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School students who earned perfect scores of 36 on the ACT this year.

From left, seniors Phoenix Wade, Samantha Seto, Nat Curtis, and Junior Emalee Ro all earned the top composite score possible on the ACT. 

Fewer than 0.5% of the students who took the ACT this year earned a perfect score of 36. The ACT, like the SAT, is used in college admissions, and the test has four sections: English, math, reading and scientific reasoning. 

Thomas Jefferson also has four seniors who scored in the top 1% in the nation on the PSAT, and they were named National Merit Semifinalists (below, from left) Phoenix Wade, Nat Curtis, Nico Carlson, and Ryken Garren. 

Three other TJ seniors were named commended students in the National Merit Scholarship program for scoring in the top 3% in the nation (bottom, from left): Jay Ball, Samantha Seto, and Eva Locher. 

The time-tested liberal arts program at Thomas Jefferson prepares students well for college, and a large percentage of the students in the Class of 2023 have done exceptionally well on their college admissions tests.
