Day of Hope Festival featured on Newsmakers program

Firefighters, EMT’s, police, and even church pastors are on the front lines of danger and even grief often leading to extraordinary stress and emotional fatigue. An effort to bring them comfort, along with help for the whole community, is the focus of the next Newsmakers. Area churches are joining forces with addiction recovery services and ministries to offer a music festival revival-style event called the Day of Hope on Labor Day.

Event coordinators Elmer and Jackie Marshall said the event focusing on hope, help, healing and Jesus, will feature booths representing at least 19 ministries, multiple bands and more than 20 businesses. Sally Wilbourn with Living Proof Outreach Ministries discusses her involvement in Day of Hope. 

Damian and Amber Shaw share about Full Send Recovery, women’s housing focused on sobriety, accountability and rebuilding lives. And Pastor Bill Hackworth with God’s Glory Tabernacle International and Tiff City Community Church member John Whitehead share the stresses for those leading flocks and the need for faith and hope.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. beginning on KGCS-TV August 16 and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Optimum Internet. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
