On 06/18/2016 at 9:40 PM, Joplin Police responded to 1932 W. 4th St. in reference to a 911
hang-up.
Officers arrive to find the occupants of the home visibly shaken and signs of a
disturbance in the home.
The victims were Axel Bohn-Witt and Caitlin Blevins.
Blevins stated that Travis Morris and
Corey Walstead had assaulted them as they arrived home. Morris struck Blevins several times
while she was outside the home and forced her into the
home. Walstead kicked in the door to the
home and punched Bohn-Witt and further grabbed Bohn-Witt in a choke hold and punched him
in the head.
Blevins stated that she attempted to flee the residence at one point and was thrown
to the ground by Morris and Walstead, she stated at that point she felt unable to leave the
residence for help.
Walstead and Morris were alleged to be looking for money. The victims
believed that Morris was armed though he did not display a firearm.
Morris and Walstead forced the victims to remain in their home and forcibly removed their cellphones
from them.
Walstead and Morris fled on foot once they realized that Blevins was able to
dial 911 on her cell phone during the struggle.
Officers located the subjects at 1825 W. 7th St. (Rumors Bar).Travis D. Morris, 22, Joplin and
Corey M. Walstead, 24, Diamond, were each arrested and subsequently charged by the Jasper
County Prosecutor for Burglary 1st, Robbery 2nd, and Felonious Restraint. Each of their bonds is
fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) surety and five-thousand dollars ($5,000) cash
