KGCS, the television station at Missouri Southern State University, received recognition during the Missouri Broadcasters Association’s 2016 annual media awards.
The station received a Certificate of Merit in the “Station Sponsored Community Event” category for Class 3 (small market) television stations in the state. The award was for work the station does each year for the annual Southern Media Showcase program at Missouri Southern.
That program reaches out to area high-school students for a media competition and a day of presentations on campus.
“We’re proud to receive this recognition from the Missouri Broadcasters. The Southern Media Showcase is truly a team effort to reach out to the community,” says Judy Stiles, KGCS General Manager.
The awards were presented during the MBA’s annual convention, held the weekend of June 3-4 in Branson.
