Overheated mixing machine cause of fire at Eagle Picher

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1215 C Street at 12:30 PM Tuesday, 21 June. 

Crews arrived on scene at 12:34 PM to find a 2500 sq. ft. metal building with brown smoke showing from the roof area. A roof vent was removed and crews extinguished the fire inside. 

Crews remained on scene until 2:02 PM. The structure is owned by Eagle Picher. 

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or bystanders. 5 Joplin Fire units and 22 Joplin Fire personnel responded, as well as JPD and METS.

The cause of the fire was rules accidental, caused by an overheated mixing machine.
