Missouri Route 59 OPEN Following Repairs Due to December 2015 Flood Damage |
Where: Missouri Route 59 in McDonald County between Ginger Blue and Noel.
When: 6:30 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016.
What: Missouri Route 59 is OPEN to traffic after completion of a project to repair the road.
Background: MoDOT CLOSED Route 59 on Dec. 30, 2015 when it was discovered the flooding Elk River had weakened the bank and material under the highway over the Christmas weekend, dropping that section of the highway several inches. The project included installing a retaining wall constructed of steel piling and concrete wall panels to stabilize the highway. Repairs began the week of April 11, 2016 with a contract completion date of July 15, 2016.
