On July 11, 2019 the Joplin Police Department responded to a bear sighting along with Duquesne, MO Police Department, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Joplin Animal Control, and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
The bear was in a wooded area near a housing addition.
With all involved, the bear was able to be captured safely and removed from the area.

The Missouri Department of Conservation took custody of the bear and transported it out of the Joplin area.

They euthanized it. Outrageous!
