Officers participated in increased DWI enforcement over the 4th of July holiday as part of the statewide “Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over” campaign.
The goal of this campaign was to increase visibility of law enforcement on roadways and decrease impaired driving crashes. The money for overtime was paid for by the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Traffic and Highway Safety Division.
Joplin Officers who participated in the enforcement between Thursday and Sunday reported the following statistics:
Vehicle stops 36
Citations 23
Warnings 41
Warrant arrests 6
Other arrests 7
Drug arrests 4
DWI 3
These numbers only reflect the campaign itself, and not the total department numbers for the weekend
