Upcoming Newsmakers program focuses on MSSU career services, retiring professor

(From Southern News Service)

Two new episodes of “Newsmakers,” scheduled to hit the KGCS-TV airwaves in the coming weeks, are currently posted online.

One episode highlights the university’s Career Services department and features director, Alex Gandy. He visits with Judy Stiles, host and KGCS general manager, to discuss his department’s ongoing work to help prepare students for the job market – including resume preparation, interview tips and practice and the MSSU job site, “Hire a Lion.”

Gandy also talks about how career services has continued to operate during the campus closure, while preparing students for the increased use of streaming interviews. The show has been posted on the station’s YouTube channel and can be viewed by clicking the link: https://youtu.be/zFKleFN7qKQ.

The second episode highlights the longevity of MSSU professor, Dr. William Kumbier. A fixture in the English department since 1989, he’s retiring – and talks about his career, his work with students, comparative literature, technical writing and how he first became interested in literature. That show can be viewed by clicking the link: https://youtu.be/SGyQ9CKx8R0.

KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21. It is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
