Sarcoxie Public Library closed for renovations

 (From the Sarcoxie Public Library)

Effective January 10, 2022, the library was closed to start significant renovations per council approval. This closure will require an extended period of time to complete the renovations. We estimate being able to have a grand reopening prior to June 1st of this year.

The City has been making significant repairs to the facility over the past several years.

Examples include floor repair, back wall replacement, new roof, and safety glass in the front windows. This current closure will include expanding the public areas, creating new offices and dedicated spaces, new lighting, ceiling, and floor treatments, etc.

During the closure, the library will offer limited hours at City Hall for patrons to return or check out books on a limited basis. Additionally, visit the library’s Facebook page or call to
find out the hours of operation. When completed, besides a new look and more energy efficient, the new facility will provide several new amenities including:
A coffee shop
Improved and safer air quality
Dedicated spaces for our youth and public access computers
A small meeting room with additional computer access
Expanded hours Monday through Saturday
Improved seating
Upgraded Internet and Wi-Fi

Another big addition is the relocation of the Sarcoxie License Office. This change will
increase traffic into the library and create a much more comfortable atmosphere for
customers.

The goal of these renovations is to make the library safe and enjoyable and to help draw
the next generations of patrons.
