(From MODOT)The public is invited to a virtual (online) public meeting starting Monday, February 7, to learn more about a project to replace the Missouri Route 96/White Oak Creek bridge, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
The meeting will be available for two weeks beginning Monday, February 7, until Monday, February 21, and can be accessed at www.modot.org/missouri-route-96-white-oak-creek-bridge-replacement.
The public is invited to make comments and/or ask questions about the plan to replace the bridge east of Avilla. The new bridge will be two feet higher, 16 feet wider and 15 feet shorter than the existing bridge.
The current bridge was built in 1925 with extensive rehabilitation in 1955 and carries approximately 3,800 vehicles per day (22 percent is truck traffic). The project is scheduled to be awarded to a contractor in April.
The estimated cost of the project is $2.4 million.
