Public meeting scheduled to discuss East Town historic nomination process

The Historic Preservation Commission is working to complete the National Register Nomination of the Broadway District in the neighborhood of East Town.

A public meeting to discuss the nomination process and its significance will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25.at Bookhouse Cinema, 715 E. Broadway Avenue. Representatives with the consultant Owen & Eastlake, Ltd. will facilitate the meeting to address the significance and the process being followed as they work on the nomination.






 

This will be the first of two public meetings for the project. The second meeting will be scheduled following the completion of the nomination but prior to the presentation to the Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation which is scheduled on July 15, 2022.

The creation of a district recognizes the significance and history of the area to its community, preserves and archives the generated research, and opens the potential of resources made available to the properties within the district for the rehabilitation and preservation of said properties.
