(From the George Washington Carver National Monument)George Washington Carver National Monument, in partnership with the Department of Teacher Education at Missouri Southern State University, Spiva Center for the Arts, and Carver Birthplace Association announces the George Washington Carver National Monument 3rd and 4th Grade Art and Essay Contest.
Open to 3rd and 4th graders, Art and Essay encourages artistic expression and trait-based essay writing, centered on the theme: Curiosity, which is derived from George Washington Carver’s own words: From a child, I had an inordinate desire for knowledge, especially music, painting, flowers, and the sciences...”
Students are invited to explore this theme to create art and write essays. Entry deadline is February 16th, 2023. An art show will be set up beginning March 6th with an awards ceremony held on April 1, 2023. Roary the Lion from Missouri Southern State University will be there to congratulate the students! Each first-place winner will become a park ranger for a day and work with park rangers in the visitor center!
