(From George Washington Carver National Monument)The staff of George Washington Carver National Monument is pleased to announce
Coffee With Carver beginning at 10:00 am on January 19th. This free program is held the third Thursdays of January-March
and includes a park ranger sharing well-researched information about selected topics on George Washington Carver’s life, plus a hands-on activity led by park volunteers.
On Thursday, January 19th the presentation is entitled The Usefulness of All Things. George Washington Carver found beauty and value in common materials often overlooked. Whether paint produced from Alabama clay, placemats woven from dyed corn stalks, or needlework from leftover string, you will be amazed at his resourcefulness and desire to beautify his surroundings! Following this presentation, volunteers will lead a burlap flower-making session. Bring a friend and take home your own burlap flowers!
Fresh coffee and hot tea will be available. Geared for adults, Coffee With Carver is supported by the Carver Birthplace Association and by the Volunteers In Parks program.
