Goodman police officer commended for saving a life

(From Goodman Police Department)

Officer Prestyon Kalgren demonstrated exceptional performance in an effort to rescue or save human life, which, without such intervention would likely have resulted in death while serving as a member of the Goodman Police Department on 03/26/2023.

On March 26th 2023, Officer Kalgren responded to a call for service at Sawmill Terrace for a medical call. Upon arrival, Officer Kalgren observed a male inside the residence laying in a bed, not conscious and not breathing. Officer Kalgren quickly got the male onto the floor and started performing life saving measures.

A pulse was regained and Freeman transported the patient “code 3” to Freeman Joplin.

Deputy Sheppard with the McDonald County Sheriffs Office was also on scene and working on the patient. Deputy Sheppard commended Officer Kalgren’s quick and thorough life saving actions.
The early and affective application of life saving measures was crucial. Without the quick actions of Officer Kalgren, a possible fatality could have been the outcome.

Officer Kalgren’s actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of law enforcement services and reflect distinct credit upon himself and the Goodman Police Department.

Please continue praying for the family as the patient remains in ICU. We are praying for a full recovery.
We would like to thank the McDonald County 911 center, MCSO Deputy Sheppard, Freeman Ambulance Service, and GFD. Each and every one of you played a key role
