Better Business Bureau travel tips and scam warnings topic for Newsmakers program

(From KGCS)

School is out soon and that means families and students will be planning vacations. Before you book, the Better Business Bureau says you need to do research to avoid getting scammed. The BBB shares travel tips and scam warnings on the next Newsmakers program.

BBB Regional Director Pamela Hernandez gives the pros and cons of do-it-yourself trip planning. She discusses hidden fees, social media resort offers, and how to determine if a travel agent is reputable.

Hernandez also warns of vacation fraud and the risks connected to timeshares and vacation clubs. She also shares safety tips for protecting your online information while traveling.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. beginning May 11 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS-TV has been off-the-air during a planned outage. We hope to be back on the air by May 11. MSSU is moving the station transmitter to the KXMS-FM broadcast tower on campus.

KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
