TRAFFIC ALERT: WB I-44 Reduced to One Lane at Route 86/43 (Exit 6) for Bridge Work at Night May 30

Where: Westbound I-44 over Missouri Route 86/43 (Exit 6) in Joplin

When: 9 p.m., Friday, May 30 through noon, Sunday, June 1

What: Contractor crews pouring concrete for new westbound bridge deck/driving surface. This work is part of a project to rehabilitate the westbound I-44 bridge over Route 86/43.

Traffic Impacts

Westbound I-44 driving lane (right lane) CLOSED over Route 86/43 bridge at Exit 6

Westbound I-44 driving lane (right lane) traffic will be diverted down and across Route 86/43 using westbound off- and on-ramps

Westbound I-44 passing lane (left lane) will remain OPEN using the existing crossover lane and current traffic configuration

Both eastbound I-44 lanes remain OPEN

Drivers urged to find alternate routes

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
