One-year-old Joplin girl killed in collision on I-49

A 1-year-old Joplin girl was killed in a two-vehicle collision 5:55 p.m. Saturday on I-49 one mile south of Goodman.

According to the Highway Patrol report, southbound traffic on I-49 had stopped for an animal in the roadway when a 2012 Honda Accord driven by a 22-year-old Joplin woman struck the rear of a towed unit on a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia driven by a 55-year-old Laurinburg, North Carolina man.






Dr. Broadbent at Freeman Neosho pronounced the child dead at 6:43 p.m.

The Joplin woman was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

The fatality was the 34th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
