According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2017 GMC Terrain driven by a 36-year-old Mount Vernon man crossed the center line and struck a 2024 Toyota Corolla driven by a 32-year-old Greenfield woman head on.
Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Larry Eden pronounced the Mount Vernon man dead at the scene.
The Greenfield woman was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Springfield.
The fatality was the 54th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
