Crowder College has been awarded a National Science Foundation Advance Technological Education grant in the amount of $299,993. The grant funding began July 1, 2020 and continues through June 30, 2023.
The grant will be used to develop high quality Career and Technical education programs throughout our region. Aligning curriculum with the six technical centers who serve 41 school districts in southwest Missouri while increasing student awareness is the goal of the grant.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to support our partners in career and technical education through this grant.,” stated Dr. Phillip Witt, Associate Vice President Career and Technical Education.
“Together we have the opportunity to make big strides in developing career pathways, making the journey from high school to career more affordable and more effective.”
The project focuses on three occupations that were identified by Missouri Economic Research and Information Center as high demand: automotive, construction and welding technologies. Funding will be used to provide professional development and resources to instructors at high schools as well as postsecondary institutions; use business and industry leadership to guide industry-driven curricula; improve student and parent perception of programs; and place students in work-based learning opportunities.
Crowder College is a two-year institution that provides training to enter the workforce as well as transfer to a university. Located in southwest Missouri the college provides over 80 degree and certificate programs.
