Former Carthage police officer pleads guilty, receives suspended sentence

A former Carthage police officer pleaded guilty to charges of outraging public decency and engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses and has been placed on probation. The crimes took place while she was an officer with the Miami Police Department:

Thirty-seven-year-old Teresa Lashmet pleaded guilty to two counts of outraging public decency and engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses. She received a three-year deferred sentence.

The Oklahoma Attorney General's office indicted Lashmet in a man's May 2013 arrest.

The man was arrested on a drunken driving complaint and other driving-related complaints. Footage from a patrol car's camera showed Lashmet was at the scene during the arrest of the man who was injured by other law enforcement officials.

Lashmet was accused of giving false information to a grand jury and on the arrest affidavit.
