Thomas Jefferson enrollment up 7.4 percent

With 304 students enrolled, the 2014-2015 school year marks the largest first-day enrollment in the school’s 21-year history -- a 7.4 percent increase over last year.

Special events on Monday include:
Flag-raising ceremony and student greetings at 8:15 a.m. in front of the school
Senior greetings immediately following flag-raising ceremony
Honor Code signing ceremony for students in grades 1-5 immediately following senior greetings
Honor Code signing ceremony for High School students at 11:35 a.m.
Honor Code signing ceremony for Middle School students at 12:05 p.m.

During the Honor Code signing ceremonies, students will sign the TJ Honor Code Student Commitment. The text of the document is available here.

  1. When pasting TJ press releases, shouldn't you mention Mr. Humphreys' connection to TJ, as well as his status as your financial benefactor? After all, you thought enough to mention that the photo is from last year. Or is this an ad on what you otherwise claim is a journalistic web site? If it's an ad, then shouldn't you say so and put it on the side with the other ads?

  2. My daughter is one of the new students. She tested well and earned a scholarship courtesy of David and Debra Humphreys, and we qualified for some financial aid. Our average monthly payment will be just over $300. While this is substantial to our family, I just couldn't stomach sending my child to Joplin schools. Not to mention, we'll likely see a return on our investment with the college scholarships she'll no doubt earn having received an incredible education at TJ. More than 40% of students at TJ are receiving some kind of scholarship.
