City of Joplin won't accept credit/debit card transactions Thursday

(From City of Joplin)

On Thursday, August 25, the City of Joplin will not be able to process any credit/debit card transactions at any city location or facility, due to a computer server being replaced in the Finance Department.

The public should be aware: NO CREDIT/DEBIT CARD transactions will be accepted on AUGUST 25. This affects ALL City departments that accept any type of credit/debit card transaction, including Joplin Finance Department (sewer and trash bills, licensing fees, permits, etc.) as well as any other department collecting fees or payments, such as Parks and Recreation, Golf Course, Municipal Court System, Police, Health, or Public Works.

All credit/debit card transactions must be completed by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24. This includes both online payments and those made directly with a City representative within the City departments.

During this time of computer maintenance, the City will still be able to accept cash and check payments. The City anticipates that the computer server will back in service at 8 a.m. on Friday, August 26.

“This computer maintenance will help with efficiency and ongoing operations of electronic transactions through the Finance Department, and other areas in the City,” said A.J. Whistler, Assistant Director of the Finance Department. “We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time and encourage them to make their payments prior to or following August 25 to help with this transition.”

Work to replace the Finance Department’s server will be completed by the City’s Information Technology department.
