Four injured in intersection collision near Carl Junction

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident 4:35 p.m. Monday on MO 96, one mile north of Carl Junction.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Carol R. Evitts, 57, Alba, was attempting to make a left turn and turned into the path of a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by John A. Southern, 43, Carl Junction.

Southern and a passenger in his vehicle, Kimberly J. Southern, 43, Carl Junction, were treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin. Another passenger in the Southern vehicle, Ray E. Maxwell, 43, Carl Junction, was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

Evitts was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital,
