Galena man injured, Joplin man escapes injury in two-vehicle crash

A Galena, Kansas man was injured in a two-vehicle accident 11:38 a.m. today Bell Center Road six miles west of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2013 Toyota Rav 4 driven by Billy L. Lyerla, 64, Galena, crossed the center line and struck the left rear side portion of a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Troy A. Pierson, 36, Joplin,  causing the Pierson vehicle to go off the left side of the road into a ditch.

The Lyerla vehicle went off the road, struck a ditch and wound up in a field.

Lyerla was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
