The recipient for the 2016 Officer of the Year award is Officer Adam Brannin.
This year Officer Brannin took over the position of Canine Trainer for the department. This position carries a large amount of responsibility that Officer Brannin willingly took on. He is responsible for planning all training for our canine units. During his short time as the trainer, I have witnessed unityamong the canine officers. He has been able to mend wounds and bring the canine officers closer together.

Officer Brannin has been instrumental in integrating Canine officers into the SWAT team. This year he was able to utilize his canine partner, Belgon, during two separate Operation 100’s to take two felons into custody. Both suspects had barricaded themselves into areas that were hard to access by SWAT operators. Without the assistance of Belgon, the suspects may have possibly gotten away.
With all of the extra responsibilities that Officer Brannin has, it does not affect his normal patrol duties. Officer Brannin consistently makes narcotic arrests with a vast majority being felony arrests. He works closely with ODET detectives to target known narcotics houses and help build their cases.
As a direct result to car stops that Officer Brannin has made, suspect have been sentenced to more than 40 years in Federal Prison in related to weapons violations. This does not include other cases that were sent through state court.
