Jasper man arrested for DWI after crashing into tree

A Jasper man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 2:35 p.m. today on County Road 210, three miles north of Purcell.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1989 GMC Sierra driven by Jimmie R. Johnson, 55, Jasper, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

Johnson, who was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, was also cited for driving while revoked, careless and imprudent driving, no seat belt, and no insurance.
