(From the East Newton R-6 School District)
As part of the continued efforts in keeping the patrons informed, the East Newton R-VI Schools
administration will provide monthly information concerning Board meetings.
A recap of the April 2017 regular meetings is as follows:
Patriot Pride recipients were Ella Marion and Jordan Williams.
Special guest was Dr. Ron Mitchell, incoming superintendent for the East Newton R-VI School District.
Public Comments: None
The Board approved the consent agenda, including the previous month's Board minutes and monthly
bills.
Program evaluations for the month was CTEC, RTi, and PAT.
Under reports
A financial report was given for the month of March and enrollment numbers were
presented. Total enrollment on the last day of March (K-12) was 1,339 students. Attendance overall for
March was 93.1%.
Finally, under reports the board heard preliminary figures for the 2017-2018 budget.
Under Old Business, the board reject a plumbing bid for the high school and wanted the project re-bid,
approved roof bids for summer work at Triway going with Mid-America roofing and approved MSBA
policies 2016D.
In respect to New Business, the Board approved 2017-2018 employee health insurance premiums to be
set at $400 per month per employee.
The Board approved the Opaa! Summer school food service
contract.
The Board approved a resolution to remove and replace names on CD’s held by Community
Bank and Trust.
Finally the Board approved a budget amendment to the current budget.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 18 at 5:30 p.m. at Central Office.
