"Suicidal" Joplin man charged with DWI, resisting arrests, seven misdemeanors, airlifted to St. Joseph hospital

A Joplin man described as "suicidal" by the Highway Patrol, was airlifted to a St. Joseph hospital after a high-speed chase that ended in a one-vehicle crash 8:38 a.m. today on Route T, two miles north of Amazonia in Andrew County.

The Patrol report said Troop H was contacted about a suicidal man and located the 2013 Ford Mustang David W. Galbraith, 52, Joplin was driving and tried to stop Galbraith, who was northbound on T to check on his well being. Galbraith would not stop and eventually drove off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment.

Galbraith was airlifted to Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, with serious injuries.

The Patrol cited Galbraith for a felony, resisting arrest, and seven misdemeanors- driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle with sounding sirens and displaying red and blue lights, failure to signal, exceeding posted speed limit (88 in a 55), failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and driving while revoked.

  1. Praying for David & Healing in every way. I am saddened & torn, this man has such a wonderful heart. I hate that he is hurting so badly. Wishing much Love to him. Life is so hard sometimes but I know he has the strength to face all that faced him now. God Bless to David & the Officer's & Medical Staff involved. So Thankful he is alive & no one else was injured in this accident.

  5. Blessed,to call David,My Freind. David, Is A Careing,Respectful,& Smart Person, with a great sense of humor. David, is NOT,a Suicidal Person. I had heard he was Recently having some Medical Problems,including Seizures. I Hope David,gets the care he so greatly deserves,& they can figure out the real reason for this "Horrible Accident", & Thankful, no one else,was injured.   6. Prayers,For My Good Freind David. David, Was "NOT",A Suicidal Person. I've heard,he was recently having some "Sereous Medical Issues,including Seizures". David, Was A Repectful, & Kind Person,with a Great Sense Of Humor,who Enjoyed Seeing People laugh. I'm Saddened, By The News Of This Accident,& I'm Glad,No One Else,Was Injured.
