Driver with no license plates stopped at 7th Street Sonic, cited for DWI, felony weapons charge- driver, passenger both carrying meth in their shoes

Wednesday evening, at 9:38 p.m., one of our officers saw a Blue GMC Envoy at 7th and St. Louis, driving with no license plates.

The officer stopped the vehicle at Sonic, at 7th and Illinois. The driver was impaired, and said he had taken prescription drugs. He retrieved his prescription from his pocket, along with a shotgun shell.

A K9 alerted to the vehicle, and a loaded shotgun and more shotgun shells were located in the vehicle, along with pipes and scales.

The passenger had four handgun rounds of ammunition in his pocket. The driver was arrested for driving while under in the influence of drugs.

While trying to find the drugs, they found the passenger had a bag of meth in his shoe. They then had the driver, who was in custody, remove his shoe, and found he also had a bag of meth in his shoe. Both were arrested for felony drug charges. The driver was charged with DWI and felon in possession of a firearm.
