Original News Release
On 03/21/2018 at 1:23 p.m. the Joplin Police Department received a call that a body had been discovered near Wildcat Glades in Shoal Creek.
Officers responded and located the body of an adult male. Currently the Joplin Police Department in conjunction with the Missouri State Water Patrol is conducting a death investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. The investigation is ongoing.
Update
The Newton County Coroner has ruled the death an accidental drowning. The victim has been identified as William Simpson, a 49-year-old Joplin resident.
