Joplin Police traffic stop results in felony drug arrest

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Last night at 8:47 p.m. one of our K9 units stopped a vehicle at 5th and Gray, after realizing the driver had a revoked driving status.

While the officer was back in his car confirming his driving status, the male driver stepped out of the truck and took off running. He was told to stop or the K9 would be sent, but he kept running.

The officer noticed he had a white item in his hand as well. The officer released his K9 after the suspect. The suspect then put his hands in the air and gave up, so the K9 was called back and the suspect was arrested.

It was found that the driver threw the white item in his hands into the tree line where he was running. It was recovered and contained 47 Xanax pills. He was arrested for felony drug charges, driving while revoked and resisting arrest.

  1. Wow good for the corrupt JPD. Instead of worrying about criminals and violent crimes you got a guy with what equals a month rx for anxiety medicine! Ooh that was super special.
