Seneca Police Department makes DWI arrest of man yelling obscenities at pedestrians

(From the Seneca Police Department)

At 846 this morning Seneca PD received a call of a black SUV driving very erratically and speeding on its way into town. Sgt Wilson stopped the vehicle at 43 and Delaware.

At the time of the stop, the passenger was yelling obscenities from inside the vehicle at individuals on the sidewalk. The driver was arrested for DWI, driving while revoked and failure to produce insurance.

The passenger was arrested for open container (she was extremely intoxicated as well as the driver).

It should be noted that other drivers stopped and informed Officers of the erratic driving. Thanks again to the public for calling and helping with this arrest. Good Job Sgt Wilson and Officer Charles.

At 645 this morning the Newton County Dispatch informed SPD of a possible stolen van that was being pursued by the Newton County Sheriffs Department.

The van was traveling west on K Highway. Seneca Police (Sgt Wilson) deployed spikes at the East City Limits on K Highway. The Van ran over the spikes, which flattened both front tires.

The van continued west to Highway 43 then south to 60 Highway.

Once at the roundabout the van continued west on 60 (Driving on the rims). The driver pulled into a field at 60 and Cayuga Road.

After a short foot pursuit the driver was arrested.
