Joplin residents arrested, meth, weapon seized during search warrant execution

On July 31, 2023, Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team Detectives and the Joplin Police Department investigated a residence located at 4424 W. 29th Street, Joplin. 

During the investigation two pickup trucks were stopped leaving the address. Both pickup trucks were determined to have been stolen, one from Neosho, Missouri and the other from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 








Christy Smith-Sweet and Zachary Workman, both of Joplin, were arrested from one of the pickup trucks and charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office for Tampering, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Physical Tampering with Evidence related violations. 

Peyton Colter of Guthrie, Oklahoma was arrested from the other truck. Colter was found to be a wanted fugitive from Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office against him for Tampering, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest and Armed Criminal Action. Colter fled on foot from the truck but was quickly apprehended.








A search warrant was then obtained for 4424 W. 29th Street and when it was served approximately 150 grams of methamphetamine and a firearm were located. 

This incident is still under investigation and further charges may be sought in the future. ODET would like to thank the Joplin Police Department and the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
