(From KGCS)Children begin learning the day they are born and their years in preschool are important for both academic and behavioral development. This week Newsmakers features leaders and teachers from Lion Cub Academy. It is a daycare and preschool on the Missouri Southern State University campus which has adopted the Conscious Discipline system. Lion Cub Academy Director Nikki Tappana discusses the various ages of children served by the daycare and its mission.
She is joined by nationally certified trainer Amy Speidel to explain in detail how Conscious Discipline was developed and how it works to empower children to understand their actions and impact on others to learn right and wrong and modify their behavior. Student teacher Clara Buck is part of a video segment showing conscious discipline in action. And preschool teacher Alyssa Sparlin and pre-k teacher Dyanne Dillon share the benefits of the discipline system.
Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of November 24 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, November 30 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University.
