South side of Murphy Boulevard at 4th Street to reopen Monday, north side to be closed

The 4th Street and Murphy Boulevard project is progressing with the southern side of Murphy Blvd to open.

Beginning on Monday, after the morning peak traffic, Murphy Blvd will be closed on the north side of 4th Street between 4th Street and Pool Street. Drivers heading south on Murphy Boulevard from North Main Street will encounter this closure at Pool Street and should use an alternative route.

This closure is occurring for the work needed on the north side for the improvement project which includes installing new traffic signals, turn lanes, intersection enhancements, sidewalks, and beautification elements in this area.

The infrastructure project is funded through the Capital Improvement Sale Tax and Use Tax revenues will be used for the beautification efforts. Sprouls Construction, Inc. is the contractor for the $l.7 million project.
