(From the Pittsburg Police Department)On Tuesday night, December 23, 2025, at approximately 8:40 PM, law enforcement officers with the Pittsburg Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to Tractor Supply Co., located at 115 W. 28th Street, in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of a robbery incident, which had just occurred.
Upon arrival, officers met with store employees who advised a white male suspect attempted to shoplift items from the store and was confronted by staff in the process. Employees advised the suspect told staff that he had a gun and displayed a handgun in his waistband. The suspect then left the store with the shoplifted items and fled the area in a blue Chevy Suburban.
The store manager responded and was able to provide officers with video surveillance of the incident, through which the suspect was identified as 32-year-old Frederick E. Bunney III, of Frontenac. Deputies and officers then responded to Mr. Bunney’s residence in Frontenac to search for him. Shortly thereafter, officers located Mr. Bunney in the blue Suburban and stopped the vehicle on Cayuga Street in Frontenac.
Mr. Bunney was taken into custody without incident, and a loaded handgun was located and seized.
Mr. Bunney was arrested for aggravated robbery and was transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking. He is currently being held without bond.
Mr. Bunney is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
