Highway Patrol Arrests July 26-27

Michael O. Bishop, 64, Willard, failed to drive on right half of roadway, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia

Jesse W. Wyatt, 43, Nixa, no seat belt, Christian County warrant for failure to appear on harassment

Stephen B. May, 62, Aurora, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, no seat belt

Tristen M. Moreno, 21, Sparta, boating while intoxicated, non-registration of a vessel, no boater's safety identification card
 

Jasper County Sheriff: Death of Oronogo teen appears to be accidental

On July 25th, 2021 at approximately 9:00 AM, Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to the area of County Road 205 and Ivy Road in reference to a deceased 19-year-old male. 

The male was identified at Jesse Harms of Oronogo, Mo. 

During the initial investigation this death appears to have been accidental and no foul play is suspected.

 An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, July 27th and this investigation is ongoing.


Carthage man arrested, meth seized following shooting of woman on West Church Street

On 7-25-2021 at approximately 4:15 PM, Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to 459 West Church Street, in Carthage, in reference to an apparent accidental shooting. 

When Deputies arrived, they contacted a 36-year-old female with a non- life threatening injury to her forehead. The victim was treated at the hospital and later released. 









During the investigation a search warrant was obtained and suspected methamphetamine along with several weapons were located and seized inside the residence. 

Zachary C. Rosson, 33, of Carthage, was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center and charges were submitted to the County Prosecutor for Possession of a controlled Substance and Unlawful use of a weapon.

Carthage trooper assigned to Highway Patrol Troop D

Captain Justin McCullough, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, is pleased to announce the assignment of two new troopers to Troop D. The new troopers were members of the 111th Recruit Class that graduated from the Patrol Academy on July 23, 2021.

Trooper Levi H. Crowe will be assigned to Zone 3, Polk County. Trooper Crowe, originally from Carthage Missouri, is a 2014 graduate of Carthage High School.








Trooper Joshua T. Martin will be assigned to Zone 13, Newton/McDonald counties. 

Trooper Martin, originally from Fenton, Missouri, is a 2012 graduate of Rockwood High School. Trooper Martin is married and has two children.

Carthage man injured in accident southwest of Jasper

A Carthage man was injured in a one-vehicle accident 9:20 p.m. Saturday on Highway M. five miles southwest of Jasper.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Cadillac CTS driven by Tyson E. Waldo, 41, Carthage, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Waldo was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
