Anderson woman cited for DWI following injury accident

An Anderson woman was cited for driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 10:25 a.m. Thursday on Newton Road one mile north of Diamond.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2023 Subaru Legacy driven by Sunny A. Brooks, 70, Anderson, ran off the roadway and struck a ditch.

Brooks, who was also cited for careless and imprudent driving and for not wearing a seat belt, was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Sarcoxie man arrested following pursuit north of Carthage

On 3-1-2024 at approximately 10:30 AM, a Jasper County Deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle on CR 138 north of Carthage. 

The motorcycle refused to stop and attempted to elude the deputy. The driver then abandoned the motorcycle near Church Street in Kendrick Town. A short foot pursuit ensued and the suspect, identified as Nathaniel C. Norris, 30, of Sarcoxie was taken into custody. 








Norris had two active felony warrants for his arrest. The first was a felony domestic warrant and the second was a felony stealing warrant both from Jasper County. 

Norris also faces several traffic charges in relation to the pursuit. Norris was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage awaiting formal charges from the Prosecutors Office.

Plain White T's to perform at Fred G. Hughes Stadium

The Missouri Southern Campus Activities Board presents Plain White T’s at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 3, inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium.

Fresh off the release of a new self-titled album, the multiplatinum two-time Grammy Award-nominated band that has brought you hits like “Hey There Delilah” is set to take the stage in Joplin.

Connect2Culture schedules two performances in March

Connect2Culture (C2C) will host two performances this month at the Beshore Performance Hall inside the Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex (212 West 7th Street, Joplin, MO 64801).

March will include two solar system-themed shows for kids and their families, one featuring a beloved teacher from a familiar book series and the other featuring an award-winning children’s tv show creator.








“This month is going to be out-of-this world!” says Emily Frankoski, Executive Director of C2C. “C2C is excited to bring more high-quality, educational children’s programming to Joplin. We are also pleased to invite the Creative Learning Alliance to partner with us for some space-related crafts in the lobby before each performance. These performances are perfectly timed to prepare us all for the upcoming total solar eclipse.”

All of the following performances will be held in C2C’s home theater, the Beshore Performance Hall, at the Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex.
