Comments sought for Joplin Metropolitan Transportation Plan

(From the City of Joplin)

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) is seeking a 45-day public comment period for an update to the Public Involvement Plan (PIP). The 2016 updated PPP includes:

• Expanded public comment periods for the Metropolitan Transportation Plan and the Transportation Improvement Program to provide more time for the public to review and comment on these documents.

• Newly developed goals, strategies, and desired outcomes so that the public involvement process may be defined and executed in a clear way.

• Guidelines outlined in 23 CFR 450.316 to increase clarity and accountability.
Comments for any portion of the PPP may be submitted for consideration. JATSO is the transportation planning agency for the Joplin metropolitan area, as designated by the federal government, and its goal is to provide for regional mobility. The PPP is a plan that allows the public to put input into regional transportation projects.

All comments must be received by 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Comments may be submitted to:
