Great Day of Service this weekend in Joplin

(From the City of Joplin)

Targeting three areas in Joplin, organizers of the Great Day of Service have planned community service work for both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Volunteers and organizations throughout the Joplin area will join forces on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 for this event which is sponsored by Joplin area churches in cooperation with the City of Joplin.

This program in part provides support to help maintain and revitalize community neighborhoods and engage citizens in stewardship activities. Projects will focus on Neighborhood Improvement District areas that have been identified by the City and other community service organizations. Volunteers are welcome to join these efforts and should arrive at 8:30 at the designated location for the neighborhood, as listed below. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own tools (mowers, weed eaters, loppers, chainsaws, and rakes), water, and gloves. The City of Joplin will be providing trash bags, dumpsters, and extra tools from the Tool Lending Library. For more information, call 417-624-0820, ext. 518.
