Granby man shocked to find he has syringes in his shirt and pants, JPD arrests him on felony drug charges

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

On Saturday night at 11:50 p.m. one of our officers drove by Grand Falls and saw a truck backing into the tree line, as if to hide.

The officer went to contact the two occupants, who had suddenly fallen asleep and couldn't tell the officer was trying to make contact at their window.

After eventually waking up, the 33 year old male passenger from Granby was found to have a Granby warrant. The officer had him get out of the vehicle and he asked for his coat from the truck, saying he was cold. The officer searched the coat with his permission before handing it to him to make sure there was no weapons.

To the surprise of the man, the coat had a syringe in the pocket. The officer further searched the man, and to his own surprise, found he had another syringe in his pants pocket. Before taking the suspect to jail, he searched the truck and found meth and even a marijuana pipe. He was transported to jail for felony drug charges, misdemeanor paraphernalia charges and the warrant.
