Joplin police officers, Lamar police chief to receive Missouri Medal of Valor

A total of 16 public safety officers and two civilians from across the state will be honored with Missouri public safety awards presented by Gov. Eric Greitens in a Jefferson City ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 28. The medals to be awarded are:
·         The Missouri Medal of Valor, for extraordinary life-saving acts during 2016;
·         The Public Safety Medal of Merit, for brave actions above the call of normal duty during 2016;
·         The Director’s Leadership Medal, for community-oriented engagement activities leading to greater security and community cooperation;
·         The Hall of Fame Award, recognizing an exemplary public safety career; and
·         The Public Safety Civilian Partnership Award, for courageous service by a civilian to assist officers in emergency situations. 

The recipients of the medals are:
n  Medal of Valor:
·         Sergeant Jason Glendenning and Trooper Tyler Zimmerman, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (Troop I)
·         Officer Adam Brannin, Jason Francis and Rusty Rives, of the Joplin Police Department (Rives is now the chief of the Lamar Police Department)
·         Corporal Eli Dorsey and Sergeant Brandon Sherman, of the Gladstone Police Department 
n   Public Safety Medal of Merit:
·         Major Jaime Solis, of the Richland Police Department
·         Corporal Derek Chism and Sergeant Brian Hollensteiner, of the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office
·         Trooper Austin Kings, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (Troop F)
·         Sergeant Thomas Lake, of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department
n  Director’s Leadership Medal:
·         Captain Jeff Lofton, of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office
·         Captain Garon P. Mosby, of the St. Louis Fire Department
·         Captain Tommy St. John, of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office
n  Hall of Fame Award:
·         Chief Michael T. Force (Retired), of the Lake Saint Louis Police Department
n  Public Safety Civilian Partnership Award:
·         David Lyman, nominated by the Kansas City Police Department
·         Kenneth R. Belew, nominated by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office
