Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the results of MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) commercial vehicle enforcement operations during the week of October 16, 2017.
The purpose of these efforts was to reduce the number of commercial motor vehicle-related crashes, fatalities, and injuries through aggressive enforcement, education, and safety inspections.
Three separate, one-day enforcement projects were conducted last week in Greene, Jasper, Lawrence, and Webster counties. During these operations, commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers inspected 429 commercial vehicles, discovered 972 violations, and issued 128 summonses, while placing 89 vehicles and 24 drivers out-of-service.
