Wheaton woman killed in collision on 86, Granby teenager, three-year-old injured

A Wheaton woman was killed and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle collision 6:05 p.m. Saturday on MO 86, one mile east of Stark City.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2007 GMC Sierra driven by Jenah A. Graffis, 16, Granby, ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, then traveled across the center line and struck a 2015 Toyota Sienna driven by Sandy Cha, 32, Wheaton.


Newton County Coroner Brian Artherton pronounced Cha dead at the scene.

Griffis was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

A passenger in the Cha vehicle, Sky Cha, 3, Exeter, was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

  1. I wish they would include in every motor vehicle accident report, if the person(s) driving, were texting or on their phone, at the time of the accident.
    Every report I see where they "ran off the road and over-corrected" makes me think it has something to do with the person being on their phone.
    Write your congressman/woman and push for strict fines and jail time for anyone who is involved in an accident while on their phone. It has become worse than drunk drivers.
    I am angry when I see people on their phones and behind the wheel.
