Sex offender arrested after Sarcoxie Police follow tip on people living in camper

On Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, while investigating information provided to officers about people living in a camper, a violation of city ordinance, officers located a registered offender. 

During the course of investigation, it was determined there was probable cause to make an arrest of a person there on charges of Fail to Register as a Sex Offender and Offender Residing within 1000' of a school or child-care facility. 

These charges were investigated by Officer Crihfield of our department with cooperation from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office. 

The person arrested was transported to the Jasper County Jail pending formal filing of charges from the Jasper County Prosecutor's Office. The person remains in custody at the Jasper County Jail and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The officers of the Sarcoxie Police Department appreciate the information provided to them from those citizens that contacted them in regards to this case.
