Joplin WIC program extends remote service to clients

(From the Joplin Health Department)

Pursuant to the authority granted in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. (P.L. 116-127), the USDA Food and Nutrition Service approved Missouri’s request to extend the following waivers through July 31, 2020, to address program delivery barriers present as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and to allow for continued social distancing:

Physical Presence Requirement
Remote Benefit Issuance

Under this act, The Joplin City Women Infant Children (WIC) program will continue to provide services over the phone to eligible participants.

Participants are reminded that if they have a scheduled appointment in July that WIC staff will call them on their scheduled day and time to complete their appointment over the phone. If the participant is due for a certification, we ask that they continue to send proof of ID, residency and income prior to appointment to wic@joplinmo.org .

Our satellite clinic in Carthage remains closed; please contact our main site at 417-623-1928 for assistance. If trying to reach our office by telephone, please leave a message and one of our staff will return your call. Protecting staff and participants from contracting COVID-19 is a high priority.

Please note that Joplin City WIC requires masks be worn in the building.
